Senior Technical Assistance Specialist

Job Description
WestEd is seeking an experienced technical assistance provider with a commitment to supporting educational excellence and equity. The candidate will join a recently established and growing team focused on efforts to diversify the educator workforce and promote culturally responsive practices. The candidate will have experience managing and providing consulting and technical assistance for state and local education agencies to improve outcomes for all students, especially those disadvantaged by income, race, ability, and language. A strong candidate will have experience managing and providing technical assistance  focused on promoting culturally responsive practices and supporting efforts to diversify the educator workforce. 

This position is primarily for work within federally-funded technical assistance centers and will be responsible for leading projects in the areas of school improvement, implementation of the Every Student Succeeds Act, educator effectiveness, diversifying the educator workforce, culturally responsive practice, and other areas that are priorities for states. The ideal candidate will have expertise and a successful track record working within state education agencies or as a technical assistance provider to state agencies and to lead systems change in education and have extensive understanding of the structure, operations and policies of state education agencies and education laws and regulations.

Responsibilities:
 
•Design and provide content related technical assistance and develop accompanying resources to support clients’ goals.

•Provide expert consultation and strategic planning services for state agencies and other clients.

•Collaborate with other WestEd colleagues to contribute to strategic business development opportunities.

•Design and manage technical assistance projects for state educational agencies related to school and district improvement with a focus on equity, educator effectiveness, improving outcomes for disadvantaged students, diversifying the educator workforce, and culturally responsive instruction.

•Develop and maintain relationships with high-profile clients, partners, and funders characterized by respect and trust.

•Plan, organize, and model practice for team members, gather and analyze data, complete site visits, design and facilitate project events, communicate with clients, prepare work products, and evaluate results of services. 
 
•Develop products and resources that build and enhance the reach and impact of WestEd's services.

•Work in the Washington, D.C. or Boston Office. Will consider a home office location in the Mid-Atlantic or Northeast.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have experience in the following areas:

•Designing and providing content related technical assistance and developing educational products and resources to support clients’ goals.

•At least ten years of experience in technical assistance and/or positions working with district, regional, and/or state education agencies (e.g., District or state leadership, SEA Technical Assistance Provider) with a track record of developing organizational and human capacity. 

•Managing complex projects to ensure on time and on budget completions.

•Providing expert consultation and strategic planning services for clients.

•Designing and managing technical assistance projects related to school and district improvement with a focus on equity, special populations, educator effectiveness, diversifying the educator workforce, and culturally responsive practice. 

•Serving as a collaborative member of a team to implement evidence-based and results-oriented technical assistance.

•Developing and maintaining relationships with high-profile clients, colleagues, partners, and funders characterized by respect and trust.

•Planning major educational initiatives at the state level, including, analyzing data, designing and facilitating events, engaging stakeholders, communicating with clients, preparing work products, and evaluating results. 

•Developing products and resources that add value for clients and support them to reach their goals for improved education systems and outcomes.

Education:

•Master’s in education, public policy, or related field. 

This is a WestEd Level H position. Compensation is competitive, depending on experience.
