Early Childhood Department Consulting Opportunities (Winter and Spring 2020)
**THIS IS AN INTERN POSITION. EMPLOYMENT IS SEASONAL AND TEMPORARY**

POSITION OVERVIEW: There are multiple projects to support Early Childhood Department, especially for Universal Pre-K and Summer Early Focus. Please review the project descriptions linked below, and specify in your response which opportunity you are interested in.

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW DESCRIPTION:
The Department of Early Childhood of the Boston Public Schools (DEC) has received national acclaim for its Pre-K program that aligns curricula, professional development, and coaching into a cohesive model, garnering some of the strongest effects of any public Pre-K program studied. Our success has led to vertical growth, with our innovative Pre-K through 2nd grade curricula and supports ( Focus on Early Learning ), as well as broadening our Pre-K scope through Universal Pre-K. The Boston Universal Pre-K program is in the first year of implementation. BPS DEC staff are working on sustaining, evaluating and expanding the program.

REPORTS TO: Hiring Manager for each project is noted in each job description link, in addition to the Project Manager of BPS Department of Early Childhood.

COMPENSATION: Hourly, $25.00

TERMS:
  • Interns will be paid an hourly rate of $25.00/hr
  • All employees must read and agree to the BPS 2019 Summer Program Terms of Employment .
    • Payroll will be processed on a biweekly basis after receipt of completed timesheets in accordance with BPS payroll schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree required, Masters Degree preferred.
  • Systems thinker who can develop a format that can be leveraged for future projects
  • Self-directed and comfortable with working independently
  • Ability to execute tasks within a tight timeframe
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Experience with the Google collaboration suite (Google Sheets, Google Docs, Google Presentations, Google Drive)
  • Flexibility with working remotely and on site
  • Willing to work in close collaboration with the Department of Early Childhood on shared goals in a student-centered, school-aligned, results-focused initiative.
