POSITION SUMMARY
The Maintenance Supervisor (Custodial Services) performs a variety of tasks to ensure a clean and safe school environment. The incumbent ensures an adequate inventory of supplies, materials and equipment are available to carry out custodial work assignments. The supervisor conducts routine custodial inspections, consolidates daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly inspection reports and submits the reports to the maintenance manager and director. The incumbent oversees the activities of custodial services technicians and contract cleaning vendors providing services in district school buildings.
This position reports to a manager within the department.
Must have the ability to work after regular working hours and other non-scheduled times
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Coordinates and monitors work schedules with contractors and school administrators ensuring assignments are accurate and complete
• Ensures that contract cleaning vendors are following Custodial Services Solicitation requirements
• Ensures that all contract cleaning vendors are scheduled and processed for fingerprinting, badges and keys
• Supervises and oversees various projects assigned by the Director of Maintenace and Operations and/or Managers
• Assists with the procurement of parts and supplies that may include budgetary cost, inventory, and ordering
• Monitors availability of cleaning supplies, equipment and other material inventory
• May be required to report or depart from multiple locations across the district
• Trains custodial employees to ensure best practices are followed in accordance with APS and industry standards.
• Uses the current work order system to monitor and/or assign daily tasks, projects and materials
• Evaluates the performance of subordinate personnel in accordance with district evaluation policies and guidelines
• Meets with principals and other administrative staff to address cleaning and facilities support activity in schools
• Conducts routine security assessments and badge inspections for onsite personnel employed with contract vendors
• Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator
• Required to attend scheduled shift during regular business hours as mandated
Requirements :
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
� High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
� Associate degree in business administration, engineering or other technical trades preferred.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
? Valid Georgia driver?s license; must comply with Transportation Regulation EDC-R.
� Approved Cleaning Certification from an accredited organization such as Registered Executive Housekeeper (R.E.H.), through the International Executive Housekeepers Association (IEHA) or similar certification, or 3 years? experience in custodial/janitorial inspections.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
� 2 years of experience in the cleaning industry
� 5 years of experience in a managerial or supervisory position.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
� Knowledge of Association of Physical Plant Administrators (APPA) cleaning standards and their application and usage
� Knowledge of different types of hard floor surfaces care techniques
� Bloodborne pathogen awareness
� Understands proper use and safety standards for cleaning chemicals and equipment
� Knowledge of infection control practices and standard procedures
� Must be dependable
� Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
