The Hartford School District (HSD) enjoys a strong reputation for quality programs and benefits in the Vermont and New Hampshire region. The HSD exists as a single-town district with one school board, three elementary schools, a middle school, a high school, and a Career and Technology Center. In addition, the HSD contains three separate collaborative programs: Regional Alternative Program, Hartford Autism Regional Program, and the Regional Resource Center. The HSD has an annual school budget of roughly $35 million and serves approximately 1800 students.

The HSD seeks a qualified candidate to oversee the development and implementation of its elementary curriculum, instructional and assessment programs. Below are the primary responsibilities of this position.

Coordinate the development, implementation and assessment of the HSD’s pre-k through 5th grade curriculum and programming.
Support the elementary school principals in ensuring high quality training and instructional practices for all teaching staff including the New Teacher Orientation program and the Mentoring Program.
Supervise the elementary school principals in executing all facets of their job as school leaders.
Facilitate the HSD’s assessment program for the elementary schools under the local “Ends” policy focused on standardized formative and summative assessments as well as state and national assessments.
Work with the Secondary Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Coordinator to create the HSD’s annual, federal grant program for supplemental student services in reading, writing and math.
Provide oversight and supervision of the elementary school’s nursing, English Language Learners, Homeless, and Migrant Workers programs.
Prepare and submit the statistical data and financial reports to appropriate local, state, and federal agencies for the elementary schools.

The Director of Elementary Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment functions at a District level in line with the Director of Special Education and the Director of Secondary Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment.
