The Hartford School District (HSD) enjoys a strong reputation for quality programs and benefits in the Vermont and New Hampshire region. The HSD exists as a single-town district with one school board, three elementary schools, a middle school, a high school, and a Career and Technology Center. In addition, the HSD contains three separate collaborative programs: Regional Alternative Program, Hartford Autism Regional Program, and the Regional Resource Center. The HSD has an annual school budget of roughly $35 million and serves approximately 1800 students.
The HSD seeks a qualified candidate to oversee the development and implementation of its secondary curriculum, instructional and assessment programs. Below are the primary responsibilities of this position. T
Coordinate the development, implementation and assessment of the HSD’s 6th grade through 12th grade curriculum and programming, including the Career and Technology Center curriculum.
Support the secondary school principals in ensuring high quality training and instructional practices for all teaching staff including the New Teacher Orientation program and the Mentoring Program.
Supervise the secondary school principals and the Career and Technology Center Director in executing all facets of their job as school leaders.
Facilitate the HSD’s assessment program for the secondary schools under the local “Ends” policy focused on standardized formative and summative assessments as well as state and national assessments.
Work with the Director of Elementary Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment to create the HSD’s annual, federal grant program for supplemental student services in reading, writing and math.
Provide oversight and supervision of the secondary school’s nursing, English Language Learners, Homeless, and Migrant Workers programs.
Prepare and submit the statistical data and financial reports to appropriate local, state, and federal agencies for the secondary schools.
The Director of Secondary Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment functions at a District level in line with the Director of Special Education and the Director of Elementary Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment. The Superintendent of Schools supervises the Director of Secondary Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment.
