Chavez Parkside is a public policy, college preparatory charter high school in Ward 7. An anchor in the Parkside/Kenilworth community, our school has 500 students in grades 8-12. Chavez Parkside students achieved over 5 million dollars in scholarship and a 100% college acceptance rate. POSITION SUMMARY
Dedicated Aides will provide one-on-one support to scholars with moderate to severe needs in the regular general education classroom. Specifically, Dedicated Aides will support scholars with severe needs by helping them work through regular or modified grade-level curricula in the regular education classroom. Dedicated Aides will work closely with the grade level teams, gain hands-on experience working one-on-one with scholars, participate in school-wide professional development, and receive frequent feedback and coaching.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide engaging, motivating, and relevant one-on-one support to students with severe needs in the regular classroom, using plans and modifications provided by grade level and Scholar Advancement teams.
  • Collaborate regularly with grade level and Scholar Advancement teams regarding individual students' progress and needs; provide data and anecdotal information on scholar progress during instruction.
  • Teach and enforce school-wide systems, rules & consequences, disciplinary codes, and rewards at all times.
  • Collaborate with other staff members and actively participate in all professional development and learning opportunities. Continuously use feedback to make productive changes in instructional practices and overall performance.
  • Complete all administrative requirements before given deadlines.
  • Participate in additional activities including field trips, intensive academic support sessions, and other required programs as needed throughout the year.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS REQUIRED
  • HS diploma or GED equivalent, post secondary education preferred.
  • 1-3 years professional work experience.
  • Detail and results-oriented with superior verbal and written skills.
  • Prior school experience a plus.
  • Belief that all students can achieve at the highest levels with no excuses.
  • Ability to exercise excellent judgment in decision-making.
  • Strategic thinker and proactive problem-solver.
  • Embodies the highest ethical standards.
  • Works independently with little direct supervision and as part of a team.
ADA SPECIFICATIONS: This position will be based at the Chavez Parkside campus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move about the building. In addition, travel to other sites could be required, frequency to depend on the needs of the school and position. The employee is regularly required to speak audibly, see, listen actively, and use hands to handle objects while performing the duties of this job. This position requires the ability to use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and filing cabinets.
