    The position is responsible for creating a classroom environment that develops skills in Physical Education. Physical Education skills will be taught through the following areas, as identified by the Greenwich Public Schools Physical Education curriculum; Fitness, Team Sports, Cooperative Learning, Movement Exploration and Movement Concepts.

    Responsibilities
    • Delivers content, concepts, skills and assessments, as designated within the Greenwich Public Schools Physical Education curriculum
    • Adapts Physical Education content, materials, and methods to develop relevant, sequential lesson plans that inform, guide and challenge students
    • Develops lesson plans and supplementary learning activities compatible with the departments philosophy and aligned to unit standards;
    • Provides individualized, small group and large group instruction in order to meet the needs of each student
    • Evaluates academic and social growth of students, prepares report cards, keeps appropriate records to include attendance reports, inventory checklists and other record keeping activities as necessary
    • Encourages students to think independently and to express original ideas
    • Evaluates each student's progress in meeting the class/unit standards for Physical Education
    • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an effective and productive classroom environment
    • Communicates with parents and school counselors on student progress
    • Participates in faculty obligations and the sponsorship of student activities

    Work Year and Compensation
    As determined by teacher leave dates and the office of Human Resources

    Qualifications
    • Graduated from accredited university
    • Connecticut certification (044 - Physical Education; 043 Health Education)
    Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
