POSITION SUMMARY

This position teaches collaborates closely with colleagues to teach students math, reading, writing, science, Social Studies, and social-emotional skills. The structure will follow the teacher's strengths, so all candidates are encouraged to apply. LBS 1 or other proper Sped license required; candidates with expertise and certification in math, science, ESL, and Spanish language are highly encouraged to apply.

Prescott is looking for a candidate who can significantly contribute to the school's holistic, high growth. The school has grown from the 50th percentile in math (Scantron) in 2012 to the 88th percentile (NWEA) in 2019 and from the 32nd percentile in Reading (Scantron) to the 90th percentile (NWEA) in 2019. Students, teachers, and parents have transformed teaching and learning in recent years, and we want you to help us go further.

Knowledge of curriculum, assessment, and instruction:

  • Expert knowledge of the Common Core State Standards and PARCC.

  • Expertise in culturally-relevant pedagogy

  • Expertise in Balanced Literacy framework including Workshop model for Reading/Writing and Guided Reading.

  • Expertise in Math in Focus (Singapore Math)

  • Experience with various forms of assessment, and the ability to interpret data.

  • Ability to adjust teaching based on data from formative and summative assessments.

  • Ability to collaborate and grow with colleagues to adjust instruction for high student achievement

  • Expertise in science content pedagogy

  • Expectation that writing and messy problems are inherent to math and science learning

  • Ability to write clear IEP goals with high expectations of diverse learners

  • Collaboration with colleagues and Grade Level Teams

  • Actively work with students, teachers, and families to ensure a safe and orderly school environment
