Job Summary: Responsible for directing the district's instructional programs at the elementary level. Facilitates the ongoing development and alignment of the district's elementary programs; helps coordinate TLC at elementary schools; facilitates the content of K-5 professional development for building leaders.

Iowa teaching license
Experience
A minimum of 5 years of effective teaching experience
Additional work in Curriculum and Instruction preferred
Administrative experience preferred
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
Extensive knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment
Expertise in using and interpreting student performance data to influence instruction
Strong communication skills to ensure clarity around implementation or support for curriculum and instruction
Involvement in regional, state or national curriculum, instruction, and assessment educational organizations
Knowledge of budgeting procedures and management related to the areas of responsibility
Ability to work effectively, cooperatively and respectfully with staff, parents and community members regardless of race, creed, color, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnic/national origin, religion, marital status, age, socio-economic status or disability
Ability to recognize sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality

Job Duties:

1. In conjunction with the Educational Services team, ensures the implementation of the Teacher Leadership and Compensation process within the Waterloo Community School District.
2. In conjunction with the Secondary Curriculum Coordinator, leads and supports district committees in curriculum and instruction work.
3. Provides leadership for the district's curriculum budget to ensure equitable distribution of resources.
4. Acts as the point administrator for policy review for Educational Services.
5. Supports district professional development for administrators and coaches.
6. Develops and maintains the High School Planning Guide.
7. Supports Title 1 resource allocation and distribution.
8. Evaluates designated personnel.
9. Recommends Board policies related to areas of responsibility and develops administrative guidelines as needed.
10. Attends Board meetings as needed, serves as a resource person and assists with presentations of information and/or recommendations and prepares Board exhibits as appropriate.
11. Adheres to high ethical standards and demonstrates professionalism when acting as an agent of the district.
12. Keeps the Associate Superintendent advised on all relevant matters.
13. Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or Associate Superintendent.
