DUTIES:

The Chapter 74 Vocational Safety Framework Manager will assist the principal and the Senior Vocational Administrator in the duties noted under the following categories;

Administration

Demonstrates effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

Identifies, implements, and supports content-based instruction based on the MA Curriculum Frameworks for Chapter 74 programs.

Practices relevant fiscal management policies and procedures.

Uses technology appropriately: as an organizational tool for record keeping and scheduling; as a communication tool; data collection and accountability; and educational research.

Assists in the improvement of instructional programs in both classrooms and shops.

Provides support and leadership in implementing standards-based vocational classrooms and the use of the Principles of Learning.

Understands plant facilities and equipment management.

Safety procedure resource for all Chapter 74 programs.

Manager of transportation and off campus programs - providing daily supervision, support, and scheduling to ensure a safe and productive experience for students and staff.

Manager and supporter of teachers and students with training in OSHA protocol, SDS protocol, the Injury and Illness prevention program, school health and safety regulations and emergency protocol.

Supports Vocational Director with ensuring that all Chapter 74 requirements are assessed and implemented to provide appropriate accommodations and recommendations.

Supports Vocational Director with technology protocol and process in the school.

Manager of the distribution and collection of all the keys, readers, and sonitroll access cards in the building.

Supports Vocational Director with vocational projects, on and off campus. Coordinates, supports, and monitors live vocational projects, in the school setting and off campus environments. Ensures that all projects are safe, progressive, and productive for all student's educational necessities.

Supports Vocational Director with financial requirements associated with vocational projects, including required purchases and potential profits. Also, works closely with the school's Business Manager to ensure that all vocational programs comply with State and Federal laws pertaining to all budget decision

Assures presence and quality of educational practices and programs that address the needs, interests and abilities of all students in all trade areas.

Helps all students see themselves as unique individuals responsible for their own actions.

Follows and helps train teachers to use the district's Code of Conduct.

Understands, uses, and supports the use of intervention services for students.

Assures high academic expectations for all students.

Holds students and self to high standards of performance and behavior.

3. Community Relations

Maintains an active role as a liaison for Chapter 74 Program Advisory Committees.

Involves families and other community members in developing the vision, goals, School Improvement Plans, and programs for the school/district.

Promotes partnerships among staff, families, the business community, and other Community groups and uses community resources to enhance instruction.

Develops and oversee implementation of strategies that strengthen public and private sector support for vocational education.

4. Professional Responsibilities

Is familiar with the district's student support services.

Is familiar with the range of instructional programs, vocational competencies, practices, policies, and beliefs that promote the goals of the Culture of Achievement.

Knows multiple strategies to assess student achievement and various performance based measurements.

Understands organizational change, school-based management, and school restructuring.

Understands federal, state, and local laws and regulations including laws on disability, Civil Rights and responsibilities, issues of liabilities, and requirements of due process.

Participates in parent conferences, PTO work, and community relations.

Takes an active part in trade advisory and community based relations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree preferred from an accredited college or university.

Licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Education as a certified Vocational teacher.

A minimum of seven (7) years of successful teaching experience and or administrative experience in a vocational setting or equivalent.

Leadership experiences-chairman of teacher's committees, school counselor, officer of professional or community organizations, school administration, or equivalent.

Experience in positions of responsibility in professional and community groups.

Excellent organizational, management, oral, written communication, as well as interpersonal skills required.
