Job Summary
The Building Controls Specialist is responsible for the maintenance of automated building control systems within Anchorage School District facilities. The position reports to the department lead and location of the work station is subject to contract language concerning shift location/bids. The position has a retirement association with the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS).

Job Requirements
The following are required:

1. A high school diploma or equivalent.Minimum of three years of experience within the past five years in the field of heating and ventilation control, with emphasis in electronics. Work experience must show evidence of ability to perform tasks assigned.Must be able to read, troubleshoot, and edit basic PPCL control language.Must obtain an Alaska class B commercial driver's license with a general knowledge test endorsement within 30 days of hire.Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with others.

The following are preferred:

1. Knowledge of pneumatic practical application.Possession of an Alaska third class boiler operator's license.

Essential Job Functions

1. Maintains working knowledge of the building automation system control as it pertains to HVAC and lighting.Interprets and works from plans, prints, specifications, and established maintenance procedures.Troubleshoots and repairs heating, ventilation, and automation systems.Writes reports as required.Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with others.Makes use of appropriate computer applications for assigned areas of responsibility.Performs preventive maintenance on heat control systems.Makes required changes on the computer Building Automation System (BAS) for heating and lighting controls.Orders required material for assigned jobs.Replaces or adds new equipment for proper or improved heat controls.Follows established safety procedures.Works cooperatively with others within established maintenance and safety procedures.

Physical/Mental Demands

• This position routinely requires lifting up to 50 pounds, with our without accommodations, and may require lifting over 50 pounds with assistance.This position routinely works at heights over 20 feet.
