The Business Services Analyst will assist the Business Services Manager with managing processes and controls related to school internal accounts and appropriation of special income revenue directed to schools. Main responsibilities include reviewing bank transactions, assisting with financial reviews and compliance, customer service to schools and departments, and special projects as requested.

The Business Services Analyst will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:

  • Supports schools, School Support Center (SSC), and other stakeholders in the resolution of school internal accounts issues and other issues related to special income funds received by schools.

  • Monitors bank daily transactions including reconciling positive pay; ensuring schools issue checks appropriately and communicating Internal Accounts and Consolidated Banking standards.

  • Assists schools with maintaining Internal Accounts standards, including school site visits, account reconciliations, and cash handling practices.

  • Assists with managing the Internal Accounting Management System (IAMS) module and support the technology and reporting aspects of the School Internal Accounts Program.

  • Monitors approved school internal accounts payments; including school reimbursements, escheat claims, wires, cashier's checks, etc.

  • Assists with the bi-annual vendor onboarding, funds distribution, and disbursement of funds to schools for the LSC Elections process.

  • Performs general administrative duties including managing daily communications, managing requisitions and purchase orders, and coordinating schedules for the management group.

  • Assists with year-end processing, auditor requests, and other projects as required.



Type of Education Required :

  • Associate's Degree or college courses in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance; Bachelor's Degree preferred.



Type of Experience and Number of Years :

  • 2+ Years in government finance.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Intermediate Oracle experience in a large government organization is required.



Residency Requirement: As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of his or her CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district.
