Career & Technological Education (CTE) Internship Contact Person
GENERAL STATEMENT
The Career and Technological Education (CTE) Internship Contact Person reports to the Unified Arts Department Head. The purpose of this job is to facilitate the Internship process between the student and the business community. This individual will provide assistance in the placement of the business and finance CTE students in the business community, maintain contact with the students during the Internship and counsel students on job finding skills such as telephone etiquette, résumé writing, and interviewing techniques and/or provide Internship workshops that provide these skills.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
May include but not limited to:
- Post Internships in the school.
- Interview prospective students at the school.
- Assist/conduct job skills workshops including; resume writing and interview workshops.
- Assist/conduct in the preparation of Internships by conducting student workshops.
- Be responsive to CTE students internship placement needs.
- Maintain communication with student interns.
- Assist in efforts of retention of CTE students in their internship position.
- Communicate and report to the Grants and Funded Office about student internship status.
- Act as a liaison between the school and the Grants and Funded Office.
- Work cooperatively with Central Office and business community.
- Submit formal report to Director of Grants and Funded Programs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Most hold a Connecticut Educator Certificate: Business 7-12 (010) or Cooperative Work Education (104).
- Demonstrated ability to work with professional personnel.
- Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with students, administrators, teachers, parents, and community groups.
- Evidence of organizational ability and willingness to pursue tasks to successful completion.
- Superior communication skills (oral and written).
- High standards of ethics, honesty, and integrity.
WORK YEAR
October-June as determined by student internship requests; Maximum 220 hours.
SALARY
Per SEA Contract (Internal) or Tutor Rate (External)
