Position Purpose: To perform clerical tasks in the school library media center dealing with

library checkout, return, shelving, etc. This person provides support for the activities in the library media center and serves as an assistant to the library media specialist.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent
  • Must have 48 hours of college credit or pass State-approved assessments
  • Ability to perform job activities in the areas of basic school library operations including using most functions of the library management system, shelving materials, and inventory.
  • Skilled in the operation of personal computers and standard office software
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work positively with students and colleagues
  • Capable of physical activity, including bending/stooping, standing, walking, reaching, lifting (25

lbs.) and carrying.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of libraries and library forms
  • Knowledge of computer technology and audiovisual equipment
  • Knowledge of District procedures and policies.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Uses the library manager system (Destiny) to circulate books and materials
  • Helps students and staff find library materials
  • Assists with the use of district technology such as computers, iPads and chromebooks.
  • Performs clerical duties
  • Helps with school level media center activities, such as reorganizing and shelving of materials

and inventory
  • Helps with student supervision


Terms of Employment: 9 month position/8 hour day; salary and work year to be determined by the Board of Education. (The incumbent may be required to use the following requirements
