Department Description:

Under the direction of the Director of Curriculum and Instruction, the Textbook Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the district textbook office.

Brief Description:

This is an ASASP Unit III Table 900 position Grade 30

Salary Range: $71,162 - $133,059

Closing Date: November 21, 2019

Detailed Description:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Purchasing, distribution, and asset management responsibilities for instruction materials for the district;
  • Negotiating with vendors regarding instructional materials;
  • Working with inventory companies to maintain the inventory of the school system;
  • Providing guidance to curriculum supervisors in the textbook adoption process;
  • Providing guidance to the district in the maintenance of instructional material inventories;
  • Maintaining an Access database used to track textbooks in the Textbook Office;
  • Providing guidance to district employees on what instructional materials are available and how they are distributed;
  • Management of staff members assigned to the Textbook Office;
  • Re-distribution of instructional materials from location to location according to need;
  • Attending meetings regarding materials of instruction;
  • Providing presentations regarding materials of instruction to school personnel; and
  • Working with Warehouse staff in order to adequately manage materials inventory and shipments.


  • Job Requirements:

    The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Considerable knowledge of the procurement process in regards to materials of instruction;
  • Knowledge of asset management in an educational setting;
  • Considerable knowledge of asset management software and systems and the ability to maintain current inventory database;
  • Ability to perform negotiations with Vendors in order to secure materials while remaining fiscally cognizant;
  • Willingness to conduct or attend in-services and meetings;
  • Ability to work cooperatively as a team member;
  • Effective management and administrative skills;
  • Effective human relations skills; and
  • Good oral and written communications skills.

  • EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

    Bachelor?s degree in Education, Information Systems/Technology or a related field, with five (5) years of professional development experience preferred; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge; skills and abilities.

    CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    None required.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Oversees Textbook Office Staff.
