The Employment Technology Center (ETC) is an after-school program for high school youth that is focused on academics, employment, and leadership with an emphasis on the arts and technology. At its helm, ETC places the necessity to create an environment that compels youth to be active learners and designers of their environment. With an emphasis on an interdisciplinary approach to arts and technology education, the Tech Program approaches learning with a vigorous focus on expanding technical skills, delving into critical thinking, and expressing creative ingenuity.

We are seeking a Film and Video Arts Specialist with in-depth knowledge of Final Cut Pro, stop motion graphics, animation, computer art, and more. The ideal candidate will teach students to utilize various tools as related to film and video. They will be able to expose students to available technologies and programming through a designed curriculum and through a series of projects designed by students. The Film and Video Arts Specialist must be able to motivate and maintain the interest of students while setting a positive example. Additionally, the Film and Video Arts Specialist must take a sincere, active, and appropriate interest in the well-being and success of all students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Engage a group of 15-20 students in a curriculum exploring Final Cut Pro, stop motion graphics, animation, AfterEffects and photography as tools for project-based learning
  • Design a curriculum to introduce students to the university-style science-based inquiry model
  • Coordinate photography and/or film-based trips, special events, student showcases, and other activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge Requirements
  • A commitment to the mission and programs of HCZ
  • In-depth knowledge of Adobe Suite including but not limited to: After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign
  • Knowledge of Final Cut Pro, Premiere, stop motion graphics, animation, photography, 3D art, Gimbal, computer art, and more
  • Experience with recording and editing sound for films
  • Aerial Videography knowledge a plus
  • 2 years of experience working in a fast-paced, high-demand learning environment; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Create basic lesson plans
  • Familiarity with electronic attendance tracking
  • Ability to document and maintain student progress notes
  • Ability to effectively engage students
  • Patient, motivated, well organized, with exceptional communication skills
  • Dedicated to providing positive outcomes for children and families residing in Harlem
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday, 4pm - 8pm.
