We are seeking part-time Chess Specialist. The ideal candidate will develop a high-quality chess program and instill students with a strong passion for the game.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and execute chess curriculum
  • Supervise all chess classroom activity and set goals
  • Encourage students to learn the game of chess and improve their chess playing skills
  • Plan chess competition events and opportunities for students
  • Communicate and work effectively with students, colleagues, and parents
  • Monitor and report on student progress and performance
  • Maintain ongoing communication with program Directors
  • Develop positive relationships with students that promotes wellness, growth, respect and self-esteem
  • Act as a positive role model for students
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualification, Skills and Knowledge Requirements
  • A commitment to the mission and programs of HCZ
  • Experience working with youth and adolescent population
  • High School degree and at least 2 years of chess coaching experience
  • Must have strong knowledge and skills in chess
  • Chess competition experience is a plus
  • Must be able to travel to away games or events
  • Must have strong leadership and communication skills
  • Positive, enthusiastic, collaborative, flexible and approachable attitude
  • Ability to effectively engage and motivate students
  • Must be able to work between 2pm to 7pm, Monday - Friday, and Saturdays as requested
