Description

Attendance Strategy Analyst will provide critical support to Schools and Networks to drive attendance improvements and truancy reduction. The Attendance Strategy Analyst will assist schools in driving and implementing attendance and truancy strategies focused on transforming student engagement. The TBD will work with schools and Networks to utilize data to inform decision making and planning at the school and student level. Collaborate with Central Office departments to integrate services and supports available to schools.

The Attendance Strategy Analyst will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation of attendance improvement and truancy reduction strategic plans

  • Utilize Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) as a cornerstone for all efforts

  • Manage a portfolio of schools and their progress around areas of culture and climate and intervention delivery to drive attendance improvement implementation efforts

  • Perform necessary data analyses of student level attendance data and utilize student and school data to surface innovative ways to look at attendance data to overcome attendance challenges

  • Providing critical data and process support to Networks and Schools (e.g., monitor programs/interventions, track student outcomes, and collect and disseminate promising practices).

  • Provide guidance to schools on systems and structures that impact attendance

  • Address attendance reporting challenges in Chicago Public Schools' student information system, monitor implementation of attendance plans and interventions, and track attendance trends and school based intervention reports.



In order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, the Attendance Strategy Analyst must possess the following qualifications:

Type of Education Required :

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Business, Social Work or related field required; Master's preferred



Type of Experience and Number of Years :

  • Experience in school leadership

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in urban education or related field

  • A minimum of 5 years of highly successful and relevant experience implementing and monitoring student support program



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Holds belief that all children deserve a high quality public education

  • Knowledge of strategies for improving student attendance, achievement, and retention

  • Strong relationship-building skills with school leadership and attendance staff, CPS Departments, peers, and other key stakeholders

  • Ability to travel throughout the district

  • Experience with data analysis software such as Excel strongly preferred

  • Experience working in public education, preferably in urban school districts

  • Experience working with CPS Student Information Systems and Dashboard strongly preferred



Residency Requirement:

As a condition of employment with Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of their CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district.
