The STEM Specialist serves as the curriculum leader to promote high standards of teaching, learning and assessment, focused on an integrated STEM approach inclusive of Science, Math, Technology/Engineering and Computer Sciences. Ability to supervise and guide the Math and Science instructional staff as they plan and implement appropriate instructional programs to create learning centered in the STEM vision. This individual will work collaboratively with the Administration, Guidance, Advancement, and Admissions departments. The selected candidate will lead collaborative development and implementation of curriculum that establishes an environment of problem-solving, learning by research, discovery and exploration that will connect all aspects of learning.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop, organize, supervise, implement and assess science, technology and computer sciences curriculum and instruction 9-12Develop a powerful vision for STEM education aligned with diocesan, state and national goalsIntegrate and expand STEM awareness amongst all teachers at BMCHSDevelop expertise in implementation of engineering processes and problem-based learning across the curriculumOrganize, develop, coordinate, and provide professional learning for teachers and staff related to STEM integration in the classroomDevelop partnerships that support the STEM concept in order to enhance field exposure and opportunity for studentsFormally and informally supervise and evaluate Math, Science, Technology and Computer Science staff as needed


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in Math, Science or EngineeringTeacher State Certification in Mathematics (6-12), Engineering and Technology Education (6-12), Science, Engineering or a related field, Stem Certificate considered a plusAt least 5 years of teaching experience Administration, Supervision and STEM experience preferredEmployment is contingent upon the applicant passing a full background check with the Diocese of OrlandoUpon employment, individual will be subject to a 90-day probationary period
