SUMMARY: This culturally responsive full-time teacher will provide engaging instruction to students through an arts integrated approach to learning, proactive and reactive behavioral support to students, and collaborate with staff, families, and community partners on student achievement and confidence that prepares them for our community.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

Collaborate with staff members from all areas of the building and district to create a positive, culturally responsive classroom environment that supports the social-emotional needs of ALL students and universal classroom and school-wide systems.

Develop an understanding around teaching through the arts and integrating elements of art, music, and movement into the curriculum.

Take ownership in a personal professional goal that aligns to our school Theory of Action around Culturally Responsive Practices and Collaboration.

Provide support to colleagues by responding to out of bounds student behaviors (behaviors that are unsafe or significantly compromise the learning environment). If there is a pattern of behavior requiring this type of response, the team should move quickly to create a proactive behavioral plan.

Track and support data collection to ensure the use of Infinite Campus and WiseDash Local while planning for instruction and behavior.

Follow and support school wide routines and procedures through the PBIS system.

Take part in professional development that support school goals.

Model positive and culturally responsive behavioral and instructional strategies in classrooms.

Take part in staff and parent committees

Other duties as assigned by the building principal

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must maintain regular attendance and be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required at the time of hire or for the continuation of employment.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Certified as a classroom teacher and/or special education teacher (required)

Knowledge of PBIS / RTI, arts integration, culturally responsive practices (preferred, not required)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

An understanding and experience with an art skill

A strong background in the area of classroom management, effective instruction, curriculum integration, cooperative learning and other instructional strategies

Ability to work collaboratively within a large school community that functions under a shared governance structure

Strong student connections, communication, leadership and team-building skills

Ability to develop higher levels of hope and engagement in students

A strong background in student/behavior management

Ability to work with classroom teachers using individual and group student intervention strategies

Experience or background in working directly with the development of students' social, emotional and physical needs

Ability to provide inservice and support to teaching and paraprofessional staff in the areas of student management

Ability to offer leadership at the building level
