Home of the C.H.A.M.P.S. (College Headed And Mighty Proud Students), Florence Griffith Joyner Elementary is located in Watts and is led by Principal Dai Shalon Jordan. The school is named after Olympic runner Florence Griffith Joyner, and feeds into Markham Middle School. Griffith Joyner has three small learning communities, allowing for specialized instruction to better meet the educational needs of its student body, and it received a Turnaround Arts Grant from the Obama White House.
Available position - the hired teacher will receive 5 paid planning days to use either before the assignment begins, or throughout the first few months to ensure a smooth start:
- 5th grade Multiple Subjects teacher
We are especially seeking teachers who are:

- Excited to collaborate with parents, staff, and other partners on behalf of students
- Proficient with the use of technology in the classroom
Required Qualifications:
- Current LAUSD Teachers or non-LAUSD teachers who have completed the District’s Teacher Selection Process
- Must hold a valid Preliminary or Clear Multiple Subject
Hired teachers will get:
- 5 paid planning days to use either before the assignment begins, or throughout the first few months to ensure a smooth start
- Instructional support throughout the school year
- Substitute coverage for full day planning (when applicable)
