E ssential Functions and Objectives:

- The High School Teacher teaches specific grade level subject matter to a diverse high school student population, following DPS standards-based curriculum. Helps all students develop competence and confidence simultaneously through a balance of acquiring basic skills and developing conceptual understanding. Monitors, supervises, coordinates and enforces rule of conduct and behavior for assigned students, and reinforces positive student behaviors in accordance with school and District policy. Observes, evaluates, reports and records students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health. Communicates with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems.

Knowledge, Experience, & Other Qualifications:

- Must possess a current Colorado Department of Education Teachers License with appropriate endorsement.
- Provides instruction in Math following DPS standards-based curriculum.

- This position requires an advanced degree.

Additional Information:

Northeast Early College is a 9-12 traditional, non-charter, public high school, a state accredited Early College and an Institution of Higher Learning under Innovation Status in the Far Northeast area of Denver. Students attend Northeast Early College for two main reasons--They have a passion in one of our seven CareerConnect (Career and Technical Education) Pathways of Business, Graphic Design, Computer Science, Engineering, Robotics, Audio Technology, and Environmental Sustainability/Green Careers which they study for four years AND they see college as a non-negotiable for their future and want to earn as much college credit as possible while working to obtain their high school diploma. As an Early College, students can even earn their Associate Degree while a student in high school through our partnership with the Community College of Aurora. Students begin college courses as early as second semester of their 9th grade year. At Northeast Early College, we are proud to have 8 adjunct professors on our campus providing college-level course work to our high school students. We are also proud of the growth that we have achieved. In the 2017-2018 school year, Northeast Early College students passed 496 college classes with a 92% pass rate. We have a #1 College Course enrollment rate in the FNE and are #2 in the District. We have earned a GREEN rating on the SPF in the area of College and Career Readiness. Not only are we graduating students in the highest numbers ever, they are graduating remediation-free, with college credit, and they are enrolling in and staying in college.

Teachers who advance forward in the screening process should anticipate submitting a written response to a prompt, as well as sending the building principal and personnel committee Unit Plans and a Daily lesson plan for review. -Teachers who then advance forward from the second hiring phase should anticipate a school tour, teaching demonstration (either in person or via video if you live out of state), and a panel interview with students and our personnel committee. -Exemplary out of state candidates can be invited to an on-campus interview if the committee requests it.
