We are seeking an experienced Athletics Administrator to assist the Director of Athletics with managing a robust portfolio of high-performing interscholastic athletic programs, activities and events. The Assistant Athletic Director will be responsible for overseeing all home game operations/management and event set-ups. Additionally, the Assistant Director may help with special projects and applicable paperwork. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for the mission of Harlem Children's Zone, an understanding and respect for the culture of all residents of Harlem, and experience working in a school-based setting that fosters a love for children.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist with managing a robust portfolio of high-performing athletic programs that allow students to progress to advanced stages of competition and personal growth and development
  • Foster strong relationships and effective communication with staff at the Promise Academies, HCZ senior leadership, in addition to sites organization-wide
  • Oversee all home game operations for athletic competitions, special events, and intramural programs
  • Attend games, practices and meetings to ensure athletic programs are in operating smoothly and are meeting the needs of HCZ Promise Academy students, faculty, and the community
  • Create, update and distribute rosters for all sports
  • Maintain contact with students, parents and respective staff regarding athletic practices, competitions, college visits and any schedule adjustments/changes
  • Effectively enforce our code of conduct/sports policy for student-athletes, coaches and athletic department staff (e.g., student academic eligibility requirements, standards for behavior, etc.)
  • Strongly enforce all safety policy and procedures to ensure the well-being of student-athletes and staff
  • Properly address emergency issues surrounding accidents, safety, health, and welfare
  • Stay in compliance with regulations enumerated by HCZ, the Department of Health (DOH), the Charter School Athletic Association (CSAA) and other relevant governing bodies
  • Maintain team and student-athlete statistical data, working closely with data team around attendance and rate of participation
  • Ensure proper maintenance of athletic equipment and uniforms throughout the start of and end of seasons
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualification, Skill and Knowledge Requirements
  • A demonstrated commitment to the mission and programs of HCZ
  • Bachelor's degree in Sports Administration, Physical Education, or related field with 3+ years progressive experience as an overseeing athletic programming in a public school or college/university setting
  • Proven highly effective at fostering a culture of good sportsmanship, respect for others and self-discipline among student-athletes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, staff and various sites throughout the organization
  • Strong orientation to details, and must have excellent management and administrative skills
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to issues prevalent in underserved communities of color
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook
  • Knowledge of PSAL regulations, policies and procedures is a plus
  • Work Schedule: Tuesday- Friday 11:00am- 7:00pm & Saturday 8:00am-4:00pm (Saturday is mandatory)
