Local 297 Salary Schedule ($28.31 per hour)

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Work Year: 12 Months

Qualifications:
- Valid PA Motor Vehicle Operators License

- Current PA State Inspection License - Class 7

- Three years experience required working in Automotive or Truck repair.

- Towing and recovering light and medium duty trucks and tractors experience required

- Body work and welding experience required.

Residency Requirements: City of Pittsburgh Residency Required

Essential Job Functions:
1. Receive daily assignments from Auto Mechanic II.

2. Overhauls, and repairs automobiles, trucks, tractors, grass cutting equipment, and other vehicles.

3. Inspect vehicles and writes up service order.

4. Use a variety of electronic diagnostic equipment to assess damages and repairs necessary.

5. Use various hand and power tools to remove parts and make repairs to vehicles.

6. Perform repairs to vehicle electrical systems, wires etc.

7. Replace headlights, gaskets, and other accessory equipment.

8. Drain and replaces automotive fluids and air conditioning gasses.

9. Recycle fluids using various recycling machines.

10. Store discarded fluids in appropriate containers until it can be picked up for proper disposal.

11. Hammer out dents in vehicle bodies and performs patch work or welds parts as necessary.

12. Paint vehicle parts as necessary.

13. Deal with insurance company for any vehicle accident by providing a description of the accident and estimates for repairs.

14. Perform repairs and general maintenance on all other gasoline and diesel engine powered equipment including farm tractors and lawn mowers.

15. Drive tow truck to tow vehicles back to garage.

16. Use hydraulic garbage compactor.

17. Insure that repair orders are completed on each vehicle and logs in appropriate book.

18. Perform state vehicle inspections and affixes stickers when vehicles pass inspection.

19. Log inspection records in appropriate book.

20. Order supplies and parts as necessary.

21. Contact vehicle manufacturer to arrange repairs that can not be performed at garage such as repairs to refrigeration units in food service vehicles.

22. Fill gas cans for delivery to schools.

23. Check gas levels daily in tank and reports when low to Auto Mechanic II for re-order.
