ABOUT THE SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT

Drake Middle school is a neighborhood school supporting 6th through 8th grade with around 950 students, 20% FRL, 5% ELL, 24% minority students, we are located at 12550 W 52nd Ave, Arvada, Colorado. Drake is a school with deep traditions and a long standing of academic excellence. Our motto is Every Student Matters, Every Moment Counts. Our staff is compiled of highly qualified teachers with a range of teachers possessing multiple degrees, national board certifications and the constant pursuit of being lifelong learners. We consistently meet all of the state and district requirements for academic growth and achievement in all content areas. Our staff is focused on the whole child and we pride ourselves in offering strong core and elective classes that are rich with rigor and innovation. Students are challenged to own their learning experiences and embrace the cognitive struggle. Min-Mid Annual Salary Range: $42,013 - $59,096

RESPONSIBILITIES

Required:
- Current School Counselor endorsement on a valid Colorado License.

- Demonstrated skills and abilities to ensure the success of all students.

- Experience working with students individually or in integrated settings such as the regular classroom, team meetings, and in cooperation with classroom teachers.

- Demonstrated knowledge of child abuse, neglect, and child protection procedures, as well as ALP, 504, SST, and Special Education Referral process.

- Effective communicator, demonstrated skills in team building, conflict resolution, decision making, time management, safe school planning, and facilitation of psycho-educational counseling groups

- Knowledge and experience with academic advising, registration and scheduling.

- Experience and willingness to implement programs related to the career and academic domains of the Jeffco Counseling Comprehensive Guidance Program.

- Excellent communication skills in order to facilitate communication with all members of the community, special ed. team members, classroom teachers, students, parents and administrators.

- Demonstrated ability in providing differentiation, interventions and extensions for students.

- Effective collaboration with teammates.

- Demonstrated commitment to team work and systemic programs.
