Additional Job Information : Automation and Production Teacher

Individuals interested in teaching automation and production technology and/or advanced manufacturing must document the following education and occupational experience.

A minimum of six years fulltime experience in an automation and production, manufacturing or engineering occupation (applicable job titles listed below).

Preferred educational background ? BA degree in Engineering or an engineering related field

Relevant Occupational Titles

Automation Engineer, Technologist, or Technician

Robotics Engineer, Technologist, or Technician

Applications Engineer, Technologist, or Technician Engineer; Operations Management

Systems Engineer

Production Engineer

Industrial Engineer

Manufacturing Engineering

Examples of Classroom Activities and Curriculum Outcomes

Demonstrate an understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM).

Demonstrate an understanding of workplace safety and workplace organization.

Demonstrate an understanding of basic machine tools.

Demonstrate the ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.

Demonstrate an understanding of graphic design by generating and interpreting computer-aided drawings.

Demonstrate proficiently in the use of quality assurance methods and quality control concepts.

Demonstrate proficiency in using measurement tools, instruments and testing devices related to proper quality assurance methods.

Demonstrate an understanding of and be able to select production processes.

Demonstrate an understanding of industrial tools and processes inclusive of: Manual Milling (Optional), CNC machines, and Welding (Optional).

Demonstrate proficiency in computer control and robotics.

Demonstrate an understanding of mechanisms.

Demonstrate a fundamental understanding of AC/DC electrical and electrical control.

Demonstrate a fundamental understanding of Programmable Logic Control.

Demonstrate an understanding of fluid power.
