Summary: Supervise, organize and participate in the activities of the maintenance warehouse including; inventory planning, ordering, receiving, storing, issuing, and assembling for delivery of maintenance supplies and equipment; and to be responsible for monitor and replenishing supplies within the maintenance warehouse.

Essential Duties: (These duties represent a sample and may vary by position.)
  • Recommends and assists in the implementation of goals and objectives; assists in the management of the warehouse function in the absence of the BS Warehouse Supervisor/Manager
  • Manages in excess of $550,000 in inventory consisting of 2700 part numbers
  • Obtains informal bids for the procurement of maintenance supplies and materials in accordance with Board Policy
  • Plans and prioritizes warehousing activities to ensure that work is completed in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Evaluates operations and activities of assigned responsibilities, recommends improvements and modifications; prepares various reports on operations and activities
  • Answers questions and provides information to Building Services department staff and outside vendors and suppliers; investigates problems and recommends corrective action as necessary to resolve problems
  • Receives and inspects incoming equipment and supplies for conformity to purchase order; reports shortages, damages or other discrepancies, identifies, marks and stores merchandise in proper locations using forklifts, pallet jacks and pallets.
  • Conducts periodic inventories of stock item; replenishes inventory of supplies and equipment on an on-going basis; coordinates purchase of needed items with various maintenance supervisors; recommends item to be discontinued
  • Assists BS Warehouse Supervisor/Manager with annual physical inventory
  • Monitors the maintenance and supply parts budget; ensures that purchase orders do not exceed the allotted budget
  • Plans, organizes and maintains inventory control of maintenance material; initiates computer receipt and issue process; initiates and maintains a variety of files and records for information related to warehouse operations
  • Checks and verifies accuracy of orders assembled by others
  • Initiates and maintains a variety of files and records for information related to parts maintenance operations
  • Maintains warehouse organization; accommodates new items and large orders; insures that proper safety procedures are followed
  • Performs manual labor including lifting, carrying, and moving heavy parts and supplies
  • Performs related duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

Minimum
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3 years of previous experience required

Desired
  • Associates Degree
  • 5 years of previous experience required

Licensing / Certification Requirements:
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver's license within one year of hire
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain a valid fork lift operators certification within one year of hire
  • Possession of , or ability to obtain Hazardous Materials Training certification within one year of hire

  • Principles and practices of warehousing and storekeeping policies, operations, and programs
  • Principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation
  • Storekeeping and warehouse procedures, including methods of proper and orderly receipt, storage and delivery of supplies and equipment
  • Principles and mathematical procedures of record keeping including inventory methods
  • Basic purchasing and reporting systems including requisitions, purchase orders, invoices and delivery reports
  • Hazardous material and appropriate precautions applicable to work assignments
  • Evaluate and supervise storekeeping and warehousing programs and activities
  • Supervise, train and evaluate assigned staff
  • Respond to requests and inquiries from employees
  • Receive, verify accuracy and store incoming parts and supplies
  • Maintain stock inventory control records

Physical Requirements:
  • Skills requiring repetitive motor coordination with finger dexterity most (5 to 8 hours) of a normal work shift
  • Required to exert physical effort part (up to 4 hours) of a normal work shift in handling objects over 30 pounds
  • Occasionally (less than 2 hrs./shift) handle/work with biohazards or risks for potential job-related injury, rarely coming in contact with hazardous materials
  • There is periodic exposure to unpleasant conditions but the work is still viewed as relatively comfortable
