Chavez Parkside is a public policy, college preparatory charter high school in Ward 7. An anchor in the Parkside/Kenilworth community, our school has 500 students in grades 8-12. Chavez Parkside students achieved over 5 million dollars in scholarship and a 100% college acceptance rate. Parkside has a first-rate athletics program with champion basketball, volleyball, track and cheer-leading teams. And we have over 50 community partners hosting students in the fellowship program. POSITION SUMMARY
The Special Education Compliance Contractor is responsible for the relationship management and compliance associated with Chavez Schools' current and future students in Non-Public Placements. This role will be compensated on an hourly basis with a rate based on experience, and hours will be determined by the meeting schedule and review timeline for those students.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the main contact for all Chavez students attending non-public schools
- Obtain complete and updated paperwork for all new and existing special education students
- Ensure student documentation is in compliance with local, state, and federal requirements
- Schedule and facilitate Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings (annual, tri-annual, eligibility, student evaluation, etc.)
- Plan, complete, and execute 30-day reviews of IEPs
- Conduct Manifestation Determination Reviews and any additional meetings that are needed to ensure IDEA, local, and state policy and student success
- Attend and take notes at any student meetings
- Upload all documents into the school's shared management system, as directed by the Director of Special Education
- Perform related work as required.
- Bachelor's degree required; master's degree in special education, administration, or related field preferred
- At least three years of experience as a special education teacher
- Experience facilitating IEP meetings preferred
- Eligible for Special Education Standard Certification in Washington, D.C.
- Deep understanding of IDEA and other laws applicable to special education
- Knowledge of DC's regulatory environment and special education landscape
- Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Familiarity with SEDS or similar data system
- Able to give clear directions and supervise teachers/case managers
