ABOUT THE SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT

Foothills Elementary School is a wonderful small school nestled in the foothills of the Green Mountain area in west Jefferson County. We are a community of diverse learners, and our teachers serve the learning needs of every child through differentiated instruction. In addition to academics, we value social emotional learning at Foothills and work hard to incorporate social emotional learning as part of our daily instruction, supporting Jeffco Generations and providing authentic tasks that helps students to grow both socially and academically. We have a F&R rate of 72%, and a mobility rate of approximately 19%. As of the 2017-2018 year, Foothills is a Title I School. We are proud to say that our CMAS scores went from earning 49% of the total eligible points in 2017 to 67.6% in 2018 (one year). RESPONSIBILITIES

SUMMARY: Provide results-based reading and/or math interventions to supplement the core classroom instruction. These interventions will include alignment to State and District standards and benchmarks including screening, diagnostic assessment, on-going progress monitoring and summative assessment data. The interventions must be research based and tailored to the needs of the students. Responsible for performing the required work and reports mandated by ESSA, USDE and Colorado Department of Education and Jefferson County Public Schools.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Provide a double dose of reading and/or math instruction for identified students.
Work with the school community to create a seamless school-wide literacy and math community and program, working with other teachers, classroom teachers, Special Education teachers, and ESL teachers.
Follow the procedures for selecting students who need additional support with reading and/or math.
Work with all Instructional Coaches in the building, Intervention teachers, classroom teachers and building administration to ensure that each student is matched to appropriate intervention(s).
Implement knowledge of and experience with one-on-one and small group early interventions models.
Coordinate each student's program with classroom/core content teachers to reinforce and supplement guaranteed
and viable curriculum for literacy and/or math development.

Work with a building level team to develop and maintain the parent component of the program and to develop the School-level Parent Compact and compliance documents and activities.
Analyze, understand and use assessment data to design appropriate lessons.
Collaboratively analyze baseline screening data, diagnostic data, progress monitoring data, and summative data to make instructional decisions about students and interventions.
Communicate each student's program and student progress with the classroom teacher on a regular basis to reinforce and supplement District curriculum.
Model effective instructional strategies in the classroom for other teachers as needed.
Maintain an up-to-date daily schedule, forms, ongoing progress monitoring, and body of evidence that supports interventions and instructional decisions.
Participate and attend all necessary professional development opportunities at the school site and the district level.
Participate as a member of the school community.
Attend all staff meetings and team/level meetings as well as assume committee-meeting responsibilities.
Attend school staffings when appropriate.
Support the school community in following school and district policies.
Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: Current Colorado Teaching License and Highly Qualified at the elementary level. Masters degree in reading or math, knowledge and application of current reading and/or math research practices, and an ESL endorsement preferred. A minimum of 15 semester hours of advanced study in reading and/or math development and instruction.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 3 years classroom teaching experience. Experience with at-risk populations and communities. Experience with the alignment of assessment data, grade-level benchmarks, essential learnings and appropriate resource materials.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & EQUIPMENT: Extensive knowledge of comprehensive literacy program and deep understanding of essential reading components and approaches. Deep understanding of best practices in mathematics. Demonstrated success with assessment data analysis, instructional decision making and curricular alignment. Knowledge and experience in ESL strategies. Successful implementation of research based intervention at the classroom level or with a more intensive intervention design.
