ABOUT THE SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT

Green Gables Elementary is a small neighborhood school serving approximately 220 students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. We are proud of our school mission: ''Leading, Learning, and Growing... TOGETHER''. We embrace partnerships between our students, staff, families and neighbors to create the best learning experiences for all students. Our entire staff is dedicated, enthusiastic, and collaborative. Teachers consistently work together in professional learning communities, and are collectively committed to the growth of all students. We work hard, but have fun, finding joy in everyday moments, while taking time to celebrate our students and one another. Our PTA and the Southern Gables Association are proud partners in our work, providing us with resources that enrich our students' learning and nurture a collaborative school community. Most importantly, we are a welcoming community who loves our Green Gables Leprechauns!

We are committed to student success by focusing on the unique needs of all students, embracing a growth mindset culture, and engaging students in challenging, meaningful work. One source of school pride is our beautiful school community garden, where students cultivate their own plots and are able to engage in authentic learning experiences and take pride in their community. In addition, a strong emphasis is placed on social emotional learning, partnered with academic learning. We utilize restorative practices and begin each school day with class "crew" time. Our school implements the EL English Language Arts Curriculum which focuses on three dimensions of student achievement: content mastery, high quality student work, and habits of character. In the EL Education Model, habits of character are critical components, and throughout their educational journey at Green Gables, students work to become effective learners, ethical people, and contributors to a better world.
