Tutor, Title 1 Immigrant EOY

Summary: Immigrant tutors will provide supplemental instructional support to Immigrant students during the instructional day. Immigrant tutors will provide small group instruction under the direction of the ESL teacher. Immigrant tutors will also cultivate strong relationships with students and parents to insure the success of the student.

Essential Duties: (These duties represent a sample and may vary by position.)

• Provides English language development (ESL) and academic tutorial services consistent with the WiDA English Language Development standards. All tutoring is done at the direction of the ESL Teacher of record.
• Confers regularly with ESL and content area teachers regarding individual needs of assigned students. May assist the classroom teacher in supporting the academic development of immigrant students.
• Keeps parents and appropriate school personnel regularly informed of student's progress.
• Provides extra academic tutoring services to help students improve literacy in native language or in other identified areas of academic need such as math skills.
• May also provide orientation to American high schools for immigrant youth.
• Performs related duties as required.
