JOB TITLE: ECE Teacher
LOCATION: Early Childhood Center
WORK YEAR: 187 work days, 7.5 hours/day, Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm
WORK STATUS: Classified, Full-Time Exempt
REPORTS TO: Director of Early Childhood Education
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for providing high quality instruction for all children in school readiness skills; language, math, social and emotional, literacy, social studies, science, visual arts and physical skills to preschool children. Develops and promotes good community relations among various community and school clientele.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Plans and presents curricular material in a variety of subjects to students, modifies for individual child needs.
2. Collaborates with Specialized Professionals, Family Services and Health Coordinator.
3. Plans and organizes field trips.
4. Attend special education staffing meetings for children entering or enrolled within their classroom.
5. Assesses student progress, records in computer and reports to parents.
6. Conducts home visitations, parent conferences and engages parents to contribute to learning opportunities within their child's pre-school experiences.
7. Participates in ongoing data analysis for the program, classroom and individual children according to the Colorado State Standards and Head Start standards for learning.
8. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
MINIMUM EDUCATION OR FORMAL TRAINING
Must hold one of the following:
- BA in Early Childhood Education
- BA in related field with early childhood coursework
- State certification as Preschool Teacher
- Director qualified preferred
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
One to three years preferred experience in early childhood education
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Computer

- Spanish fluency preferred

Director Qualification preferred

CLEARANCES:
Must clear background check through Colorado Department of Human Services in addition to an online Records check with National Sex Offender Registry, State of Colorado Child Abuse and Neglect Registry and FBI Fingerprint check through Colorado Bureau of Investigation. Must also submit receipt of a Physical completed within one year of date of hire.
SALARY:
Placement on Early Childhood Education Teacher Salary Schedule based upon previous teaching experience in related field. Highest initial step placement on the salary schedule is step 5. Current Board approved Licensed Teacher salary schedule is available for review on our district website at http://www.ssd2.org/SalarySchedules.aspx.
The annual salary for this position will be determined by number of hours scheduled to work each day and number of days scheduled to work each year. The computed annual salary will be spread out in equal payments over 12 months. Sheridan School District employees are paid once a month on the 1st working day of the month that is not a weekend day or holiday.
BENEFITS:
Employees who are scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week in the 2019/2020 school year are eligible to obtain district health benefits which include medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance and supplemental benefits. Positions that qualify for health benefits also qualify for leave which could include vacation and daily leave to be determined by the position and number of days assigned. Sheridan School District No. 2 is a public employer and participates in the Colorado Public Employees' Retirement Association (PERA). All employees are required by state statute to contribute 8.75% of salary on a pre-tax basis to PERA. The District contributes 20.4% in addition to employee contribution.
