ABOUT THE SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT

Kendrick Lakes Elementary School, home of the Dolphins, is located in the Bear Creek Articulation Area of Jefferson County Public Schools in Lakewood, Colorado. We are a proud recipient of the 2018 National Blue Ribbon Award. We continue to foster an environment where students are responsible for their learning. We serve a Pre K-5th grade population of 391 students. We are also home to a Gifted and Talented (GT) Center Program for grades one through five consisting of 106 students. We are a PLC (Professional Learning Community) school where our teachers actively collaborate in DuFour's PLC model. We provide a rich curriculum that supports the whole child through strong academic growth and addressing social emotional needs. Our talented classroom teachers, resource teachers, paraprofessionals, secretaries and principal demonstrate a commitment to equity in the service of our diverse learners and are dedicated to our mission of "Guiding each student to think critically and creatively, achieve academic and social potential, and become caring and respectful citizens."

Our Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) system contributes to our safe, consistent, and predictable learning environment as well as helps students understand themselves and the academic behaviors needed for success. We offer before and after school care, before school breakfast, and intramurals, as well as, numerous after school clubs and activities.

Min-Mid Annual Salary Range: $40,989 - $57,654

RESPONSIBILITIES

SUMMARY: Responsible for instructing students in an elementary grades K-6. Creates lesson plans, instructs students on core subjects such as science, literature, and math, and creates a well-rounded, comprehensive instructional preparedness based on the District's Core Curriculum. Create instructional resources for use in the classroom.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities.

Create positive educational climate for students to learn in.

Meet course and school-wide student performance goals.

Participate in ongoing training sessions.

Create lesson plans and modify accordingly throughout the year.

Grade papers and perform other administrative duties as needed.

Read and stay abreast of current topics in education.

Utilize various curriculum resources and technologies to enhance student learning.

Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans.

Utilize District curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served.

Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.

Prepare and distribute parent communications.

Observe and evaluate student's performance.

Manage student behavior in the classroom creating appropriate behavior strategies.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING Teacher must hold Colorado Teaching License or authorization. Must meet content-area qualifications, which could include the appropriate license endorsement, degree in the content area, Colorado State Board of Education-approved content exam, or 36 credit hours as determined by the district.
