POSITION TITLE: DATABASE SPECIALIST
General Purpose: Provide database and application support to all users. Provide recommendations and design solutions based on new developments in the areas of software and database solutions.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Except as specifically noted, the following functions are considered essential to this position:

Student Information System and Database Management
Manage Student Information System, Financial Management System and other educational and operational data systems including upgrades and database integration.
Responsible for supporting SIS student enrollment functions, attendance functions, scheduling functions, reporting functions, security functions, and other functions as needed. This will include state reporting.
Administrative and user support for the learning management system, web content management system, and other software and data systems as assigned to support the needs of the user community.
Responsible for planning and conducting staff development for users of the Student Information System and other assigned systems. Training may be conducted in a classroom setting, one-to-one, as well as other forms as necessary.
Primary contact for data requests (data exports, data imports, data reporting, and other data processing tasks) from various systems to ensure accurate and timely reporting of information.
Provide an exemplary and professional interface between the Technology Services department and all stakeholders by sending and receiving email, phone, and in-person communications to ensure that information flow is accurate, timely, and professional.
Maintain user accounts and directories
Manage vendor relationships, including maintenance, software upgrades, and software license subscriptions.

Administrative Support
Assist building­-level staff with state reporting and standardized testing.
Work with technology staff to ensure that computer inventories are kept accurate and up-to-date.
Attend conferences, educational meetings, and review professional literature to keep current on industry and technology trends and practices, and maintain personal and professional technology skills and knowledge base.
Perform other duties and projects as requested by the Director of Educational Technology.
Must comply with all SAU 70 District policy and building / department rules, procedures, practices and objectives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree
Two to four years of relevant experience (Public School experience preferred).
PowerSchool administrator experience preferred.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to design extraction, translation, and loading scripts based on various data dictionaries.
Focus on continuous improvement in district wide systems efficiency.
Ability to support servers and endpoints running Mac, Windows, and Linux.
Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
Ability to remain calm in difficult situations.
Ability to successfully multitask within role.
Ability to document standard IT practices.
Ability to communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing.
Ability to understand and follow oral and/or written policies, procedures and instructions.
