We are always looking for Direct Support Professionals who are passionate about working with children, adolescents, adults, and their families. Winchester serves individuals with Autism, intellectual disabilities, and behavioral challenges.

Direct Support Professionals in our classrooms u tilize clients' treatment plans effectively and appropriately to assist clients to improve skills and decrease/alleviate symptoms of concern, improve psychological well-being, increase independence and improve overall quality of life for the clients in the home and school. A ssist the Academic Teacher in implementing instructional and therapeutic activities for assigned clients so that they may achieve education goals and objectives and build skills necessary for success and increased independence. May assist with writing lesson plans and preparing instructional materials to support instruction. Also, implements planned strategies and interventions to improve clients' communication, physical, and social-emotional skills. Assists clients with morning routines in the residence before school. Provides on-going and accurate data collection for education goals and objectives and behaviors. Assists the Academic Teacher with assessing progress (analysis of data) and modifying teaching techniques to promote achievement of each assigned client's established goals. In community-based programs, provides transportation between the residence and school. Works with clients in residences during academic breaks and holidays, supporting the client with self-care, leisure/recreational and community activity related skills; administers medication, as prescribed to clients, as well as fulfills other medication related responsibilities ; assists with meal preparation and clients' laundry. A ssists with maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the classroom and residence. Collaborates and communicates effectively with team members and families.
Duties and responsibilities of the Direct Support Professionals vary in intensity and frequency depending on the assignment and include, but are not limited to, the following:

Advocacy
Assist clients with achieving personal goals; work on behalf of the client to overcome barriers; help clients participate in activities of their choice; respect client's personal beliefs, choices, and interests
Health Maintenance
Provide care and assistance to promote good health; help clients receive medical care and communicate with medical professionals; administer medications according to physician instructions; record information regarding health events, conditions, and status; provides First Aid/CPR and seek emergency medical care when needed
Personal Care
Help clients with eating, grooming, dressing, bathing, and toileting; assist clients with their mobility, as necessary
Living Skills Development
Help clients develop living skills such as cooking, money management, household shopping, doing laundry, personal hygiene, etc.; teach work-related skills and job preparedness; record progress on skill development and achievement
Behavior Development
Serve as a role model and mentor, demonstrating desired behaviors; coach clients using approved strategies
Operational Support
Maintain cleanliness of group homes, etc.; drive company vehicles to transport clients to their activities; follow policies and procedures

Minimum Hiring Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age
• A Bachelor's degree in human services; or an Associate's degree and 3 months experience working with children; or be a high school graduate or have a G.E.D. and 6 months experience working with children.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
