General Description
NO LATERAL MOVES ACCEPTED
Provides administrative and secretarial assistance to an area supervisor of student transportation and oversees the effective operations of the office; performs a variety of moderately complex work within established procedures and standard practices; possesses knowledge of student transportation policies and procedures; works under general supervision and requires coordination with others within and outside the school and may require handling of sensitive information or dealing tactfully with the public; requires considerable judgment and knowledge of confidentiality.
*The Area 5 office serves students that require special accommodations

Qualifications
Considerable knowledge of office operations and procedures; business English and mathematics and office equipment to include manual and automated filing systems. Working knowledge of school transportation programs and regulations, including confidentiality. Working skill in the use of a personal computer, utilizing word processing, spreadsheet and database software and the school division's routing system, and GPS systems. Demonstrated ability to compose correspondence, assemble data and prepare reports and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with all levels of personnel, students and the public. Education, training or experience sufficient to demonstrate the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Essential Job Functions
- Performs secretarial and administrative work required to ensure the efficient operation of the office, including confidential correspondence; performs time and attendance and payroll procedures and assists drivers with questions related to insurance, payroll and benefits; maintains employee database and verifies and tracks personnel actions; orders and maintains office supplies. assists with developing and publishing a newsletter for drivers; performs office bookkeeping functions related to billing and collections;
- Screens visitors, telephone calls, incoming mail; responds to public, students and staff regarding a variety of matters related to student transportation operations and policies; personally answers inquiries which in the employee's judgment do not require the supervisor's attention;
- Prepares periodic state reports regarding mileage, accidents, vandalism, student injury and worker compensation. Also, furnishes information requested from within and outside the organization;
- Performs duties of the coordinator of student transportation, as needed, to include, but not limited to various summer programs such as summer school, field trips and bus routing;
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
