Salary Range: $55,174- $66,905

Essential Functions and Objectives:

Provides full service benefits administration support in establishing, maintaining and updating employee benefit programs for DPS employees. Includes health insurance, dental and vision, life and retirement, and wellness plans. Research and resolve escalated benefit concerns or discrepancies.

- Benefit administration, including but not limited to: long term disability; life insurance; health insurance; Health Care Flexible Spending Account; dental and vision; Dependent Care Assistance Spending Accounts and Tax Sheltered Annuity programs, and leaves of absence for all eligible employees and retirees.

- Assesses and gives advice to supervisors and managers on methods and approaches to resolving employee benefit problems.

- Ensures that programs are carried out in accordance with company's policies and procedures.

- Explains and interprets more complex aspects of company insurance programs to employees and dependents.

- Counsel employees and management and resolve potentially sensitive benefit-related questions and problems.

- Work with insurance carriers to resolve employee problems in obtaining benefits.

- Establish and maintain records/files of all insurance program participants.

- Respond to inquiries from both active employees and retirees, verifying eligibility status, interpret employee benefit group contracts and enter benefit data into Lawson HRIS system; initiate or respond to inquiries in person, via phone or by email.

- Compose correspondence, reports, memoranda, meeting agendas and other documents.

- Consistently ensure the accuracy, confidentiality and security of all benefit records.

- Interpret basic understanding of employee group benefit contracts. Escalate specific questions on issues to more senior staff.

- Assist in the Benefits Open Enrollment process.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Experience & Other Qualifications:

- Three (3) or more years of benefit administration experience.

- Strong problem-solving, communication and presentation skills.

- Prior experience with maintaining HRIS databases and preparing benefit reporting.

- Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office products (e.g. Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and HRIS systems.

- Bilingual skills in Spanish preferred.

- PHR is preferred.

- Proficient knowledge of Federal and State regulations concerning HIPAA, COBRA, 401(k)Medicare, FLMA, 403 plans, Flexible Spending Accounts, annuity programs retiree medical insurance preferred.

- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with the principles and practices of employee benefits administration.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality of all Human Resources records.

- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with District staff at all levels.

Education Requirements:

- Associate\u2019s Degree is required.

- Bachelor\u2019s degree is preferred.
