The mission of the Atlanta College and Career Academy is to ensure each student graduates high school with the knowledge, skills and attributes necessary for college and career success. ACCA aims to benefit students, employers, and the community-at-large by increasing high school graduation and college enrollment rates, providing higher levels of academic attainment, and strongly preparing students for high-skill, high-wage, and high demand careers that will lead to greater potential for local economic development.
The ACCA will open in August 2020 at the old Parks Middle School facility. Students that participate in ACCA programming will report to the ACCA facility for two hours each day and return to their home school.
Position Summary:
Provides health services that assist each student in achieving and/or maintaining optimal health through education, examinations, and guidance. Provides skilled nursing care and first aid to students, faculty and staff, and counsels parents and students.

Essential Duties

1. Identifies, monitors, and manages students with chronic disease and disabilities. Documents services provided in accordance with orders and care plan.
2. Provides emergency crisis nursing care for physically and/or psychologically ill and injured students and staff in the school.
3. Maintains communicable disease prevention and control through education, policy and enforcement.
4. Conducts physical health care assessments and screenings, including vision, hearing, dental, scoliosis and nutritional assessments.
5. Provides counseling and guidance to students, parents and staff regarding health-related attendance problems.
6. Maintains thorough and comprehensive health-related reports, monthly reports, and emergency reports, and ensures compliance with policies and regulations.
7. Provides health education for use by students, families, and school personnel on subjects such as (but not limited to) growth and development, home nursing instruction and first aid.
8. Attend 504 and IEP meetings as needed to provide medical expertise.
9. Maintains required certifications and licenses; attend trainings as required.
10. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements : Education:
Graduate of a Licensed Practical Nursing program from vocational or other technical school.

Work Experience:
Experience as a School Nurse preferred

Certifications/Licenses:
- Unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse Licensed in the State of Georgia
- CPR/BLS Certification
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

• Independent judgment is required
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders at the school level
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of Microsoft applications such as: Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint
• Ability to learn and master Student Information Software such as Infinite Campus

Compensation : Salary Grade: 121
Salary Range: $31, 388 - $46, 926
Work Days: 202
