This is a temporary, project-based position from 11/4/19 to 7/3/20. Weekly hours will fluctuate between approximately 15 and 40

SUMMARY: The Editor, Level 2, works with Content Specialists, Writers, Instructional Designers, and other Editors to help prepare
material for publication in both online and print format.

• Performs substantive editing, copy editing, and proofreading; edits for grammar, punctuation, and spelling, as well as for accuracy and consistency across courses and subjects;
• Follows consistency checklists to complete macro-level reviews of K12, partner, and third-party courses;
• Exercises independent discretion and judgment in editing courses and managing own workload;
• Verifies facts, dates, and statistics;
• Rewrites or modifies copy to clarify meaning and to conform to the Company's style and editorial policy.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's Degree(s) AND
• Three (3) years of experience editing both online and print materials
• Equivalent combination of education and experience

Certificates and Licenses: None required.

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Knowledge of standard editing concepts, practices, and procedures
• Understanding, knowledge, and feel for standard American English usage, grammar, mechanics, and spelling
• Command of The Chicago Manual of Style
• Able to follow editorial style set by the Senior Manager of Editors, and to make quick editorial decisions
• Self-starter and a problem-solver possessing sound organizational and communication skills and able to work with minimal supervision in a creative but fast-paced, structured, and deadline-oriented environment
• Proficient with computer applications, including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Webcast, audio, and video streaming tools, e.g. Zoom, Elluminate, Blackboard Collaborate; Google Suite (such as Google Drive, Google Sheets, Google Documents, etc.) and willing to learn new software programs as required, including the Company's proprietary Content and Learning Management System (CALMS) ; Web proficiency.
