HIRING SALARY RANGE: $42,000 - $59,211

POSITION SALARY RANGE: $42,000 - $101,829

SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION: Teacher of the Deaf & Hard of Hearing is responsible for providing standards-based instruction and direct services to students age 3-21 who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Provide consultation services to classroom teachers, special education teachers, and special education service providers. Provide support to students' parents. Ensure appropriate access to all components of the education program for students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing.

SUPERVISED BY: Coordinator of Special Education, Assistant Director of Exceptional Student Services.

Major areas of Responsibility and Duties Specific to this Job

1. Collaborate and work with education team in assessing deaf/hard of hearing students and in incorporating the results into the IEP.

2. Ensure the inclusion of deaf/hard of hearing students in the IEP program placement, and adapt, implement, monitor, and provide feedback about educational programs.

3. Maintain records and coordinate required services for deaf/hard of hearing students

4. Support Educational Interpreters.

5. Utilize technology to model, teach, and assist students.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Masters Degree in Deaf Education

Colorado Department of Education licensure for Special Education Specialist: Deaf and Hard of Hearing

Proficient in ASL

SPECIFIC SKILLS RECOMMENDED:

Ability to communicate effectively with students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing

Knowledge of adaptive equipment and assistive technology used with students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing

Understand the IEP process

Knowledge of RtI Process

Knowledge of progress monitoring tools and techniques

Demonstrated ability to provide evaluation results clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing
Demonstrated organizational skills
Demonstrated communication skills, both written and oral
