  • TITLE: HUMAN RESOURCES AND PUBLIC RELATIONS ASSISTANT Job Focus: To promote district goals by providing professional administrative services in the Human Resources Department, district office, and in district public relations.

    Line of Supervision: Responsible to and evaluated by the Coordinator of Human Resources.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Human Resources Duties and Responsibilities
  • Secretary for union negotiation/bargaining meetings.
  • Scribe for employee discipline meetings.
  • Prepare documents for union bargaining agreements.
  • Maintains accurate records of all employment relating to full-time, part-time, and substitute employees.
  • Maintains and completes official personnel files and other records per Human Resources Coordinator.
  • Substitute Coordinator.
  • Assist with ISBE and federal compliance issues.
  • Maintains accurate records of all employees’ sick leave, family medical leave, personal business leave, vacation, non-religious holidays, or workshop/conference days, taken by any employee.

  • Public Relations Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop media relationships to promote district brand.
  • Attend district events, including evening and weekend events.
  • Write articles and take pictures or district events to distribute to various media sources and place on district website.
  • Manage content of district website, including writing articles and posting information.
  • Work closely with all Publications (online and print).
  • Write and send press releases to media outlets.

  • General Office Duties and Responsibilities
  • Organizes and manages day to day needs of the office.
  • Receives and places telephone calls as instructed.
  • Mail distribution.
  • Orders, processes and maintains supplies as needed.
  • Fills out with a high degree of accuracy, all official forms that relate to the functions of this office.
  • Welcomes visitors and arranges for their comfort.
  • Serves as the secretary to the Supervisor of Building and Grounds by assisting with phone messages, communications and requisitions.
  • Maintains accurate log for building usage by outside organizations.
  • Record and compute Technology and Custodian mileage reimbursement.
  • Order food for district in-services.
  • Update district website calendar of events.
  • Assist with student registration during the summer.
  • Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and trainings in and out of District.
  • Maintains a high level of ethical behavior in regard to any information available in the District office.
  • Guards the confidentiality of all information which may come through the office. Breach of this trust shall be grounds for dismissal.
  • Performs such duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds, Director of Instructional Services, Human Resources Coordinator.

  • Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree plus a minimum of two years’ experience.
  • Must have an above average command of English Grammar, Spelling, and Composition.
  • Must have an above average command of proper business letter construction, report development, and other standard business communications.
  • Must be able to type 60 words per minute, with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Must be able to operate a variety of office equipment, including computer, memory typewriter, Microsoft Suite, copier, software, fax, etc.
  • Must have ability to organize and operate on office information storage and retrieval system.
  • Must have knowledge of a variety of official rules, regulations and procedures, so as to be able to accurately fill out a variety of official forms.
  • Must have a pleasant office demeanor and a diplomatic telephone voice.
  • TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve months (245 days). Salary and other benefits as established by the Board of Education. Application Procedure:
