CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
Choate Rosemary Hall, a highly selective, co-educational boarding school dedicated to transformative student experiences, invites applications, nominations, and inquiries as it embarks upon a search for a Chief Financial Officer. The successful candidate will demonstrate a deep commitment to independent schools and a genuine desire to engage actively in Choate campus life. Choate’s financial condition is strong with an endowment value of nearly $400 million and an annual operating budget of approximately $60 million.
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) establishes and maintains the financial infrastructure and policies for the fiscal integrity of the institution. As a strategic leader, the CFO attends Board meetings to serve as the institution’s chief fiscal and fiduciary officer and to issue Board financial and management statements and reports. The CFO acts as a liaison to the Board and external stakeholders; provides strategic leadership and advice; and is responsible for financial strategy decisions. The CFO oversees accounting, finance and budget, risk management, human resources, and facilities and construction management. The CFO is also responsible for ancillary and support services including legal, property management and outsourced services for food, the Choate Store, laundry, and housekeeping. The CFO has four direct reports and indirectly oversees the work of approximately 80 staff members. The CFO reports directly to Alex Curtis, Head of School, and partners with Dr. Curtis and the senior team in planning and development to ensure that approved strategic initiatives are appropriately funded. The CFO serves as the staff liaison on several Board committees, including Finance, Audit, Risk and Compliance, and Buildings and Grounds.

Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field preferred. Ten or more years directly related experience in a progressively responsible financial administrative management position. Ability to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the full range of experience within an independent school environment preferred. Proven ability to affect and influence change through a collaborative and inclusive style. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Experience serving as a key strategic and business partner to a Head of School and Board. Excellent analytical skills.
