POSITION SUMMARY
The Coordinator (Safety Office) ensures the smooth running of day-to-day activities of the Atlanta Public Schools' Police department by providing direction and supervision to non-law enforcement employees. This position oversees all finance, operations, budgeting, purchasing, technology, regulatory compliance and human resource administration for the department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Coordinates the day-to-day activities in the Police department by supervising assigned staff, establishing workloads, prioritizing work assignments, evaluating non-law enforcement employee performance
• Manages the department's financial and budgetary activities, including, but not limited to, preparing, reviewing and interpreting data for inclusion in financial reports/budget; with oversight by the Chief of Police
• Coordinates work relating to various grant partnerships
• Oversees fingerprinting and badge issuance process for APS employees, contractors and Tier 3 volunteers
• Composes, verifies, and edits correspondence, reports, and other documents, such as responses to information requests, letters, memos, production and year-end reports
• Ensures technology systems and processes support efficient department operations
• Oversees department contracted services
• Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator
• Required to attend scheduled shift during regular business hours as mandated
Requirements: MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
� Bachelor?s degree required
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
� Valid Georgia driver's license and availability of private transportation
� Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment
� Security Awareness and Awareness Statement certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment
WORK EXPERIENCE:
� 3 years in an administrative/office environment required
� Supervisory experience preferred
� Experience working in a large, urban law enforcement office preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
� Knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations and department rules, policies and procedures
� Knowledge of record-keeping practices including methods and techniques used to create and maintain various filing systems; laws, rules, regulations governing records management activities, research records, and records retention schedules
� Knowledge of federal grants in a K-12 environment and school- or district-based research
� Ability to understand and communicate basic statistical analysis
� Ability to use correct grammar and spelling
� Interpersonal skills and techniques to interact with coworkers, supervisors, the general public; ability to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction
� Proficient technology skills in Microsoft Office Suite, timekeeping, applicant tracking and enterprise resource programs
� Strong customer service skills
� Ability to exercise sound judgement and effective decision making that is thoughtful and timely
� Ability to take initiative, be detailed oriented and highly organized
