    POSITION DESCRIPTION

    Providesupervision and tutoring for students who are assigned to an in schoolsuspension program. Maintain rules, regulations, policies andprocedures. Maintain good communication with teachers who provideacademic assignments for students. Encourage and supportstudents. Maintain records, including attendance, student progress, andstate reports. Work with school administrators, teachers and parents tochange student behavior.

    RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Tutor students in meeting their educational needs, both individually and in small groups
    • Collaborate with classroom teachers regarding students' needs and requirements, including IEP goals
    • Maintain accurate, complete and correct records, as required
    • Communicate in a positive manner with parents on the progress of students
    • Collaborate with colleagues, students and parents
    • Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter and present clear, complete, and accurate explanations utilizing a variety of instructional techniques and media suitable to the level of learner
    • Attend meetings and in-services per negotiated agreement
    • Make contacts with the public with tact and diplomacy
    • Maintain respect at all times for confidential information, e.g., home and discipline situations, medical background and family history
    • Interact in a positive manner with staff, students and parents
    • Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversation

    KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
    • Experience working with young children
    • Knowledge of academic area
    • Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
    • Effective, active listening skills
    • Ability to work effectively with others
    • Organizational and problem solving skills
    • Basic knowledge of all other subject matter
    • Ability to work effectively with others
    • Basic computer skills
    • Excellent reading comprehension

    QUALIFICATIONS
    • Bachelor's degree preferred
    • Experience working in schools supporting students experiencing reading and/or learning difficulties
    • 2 or more years working as an Interventionist, teacher or tutor, preferred
    • Bilingual in Spanish, preferred

    Days: Monday– Friday

    Salary: Per WFEP negotiated contract
