STIPEND OPPORTUNITY: Enrollment Data Support and Relationship Liaison for Non-BPS Boston-based charter, private, and parochial schools.

*** This position is a stipended position and is only open to BTU members whose current job status allows them to participate in these opportunities.***

Rate: BTU contractual hourly rate

OPPORTUNITY DESCRIPTION:

Boston Public Schools (BPS) is responsible for maintaining an annual census of any and all schools that all City of Boston school-age students attend. BPS is also the transportation provider for all City of Boston Non-BPS charter schools and several private and parochial schools. Boston Public Schools seeks support to help ensure that student files for City of Boston residents attending a Non-BPS school student files are accurately and efficiently maintained both for the state census reporting process and for providing transportation.

This opportunity will be compensated at the BTU hourly rate for a maximum of 300 hours. These responsibilities may be divided amongst one or more individuals, as directed by the supervisor.

REPORTS TO: Director of Student Assignment, BPS Welcome Services

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assume responsibility for maintaining and updating private, parochial, and charter school student address and directory information for use by the BPS Transportation department and the annual census.
  • Support the annual census process, with collaboration from BPS Office of Technology.
  • Support the annual enrollment submissions to BPS by charter, private, and parochial schools.
  • Monitor and update Non-BPS enrollment changes over the spring and summer for all charter, private, and parochial schools.
  • Coordinate the outreach and verification of dual-enrolled students (students assigned to BPS and also claimed by a non-BPS school).
  • Ongoing management of relationships and communication with all non-BPS schools.
  • Serve as BPS representative at Charter Compact meetings and as point person for all relevant communication from Non-BPS schools.
  • Other responsibilities as directed by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED:
  • Experience working with Aspen (BPS's Student Information System)
  • Comfort with data entry at a high rate of accuracy
  • Ease of use with Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets and other Office/Google Suite applications
  • Ability to collaborate across various departments and stakeholders
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
QUALIFICATIONS - PREFERRED:
  • Familiarity with BPS's school assignment processes and timelines
  • Familiarity with BPS's transportation processes and timelines
