Role: School Psychologist
Reports To: Director of Student Services
Terms of Employment: 10 month, salary and benefits established by Civitas Education Partners


Position Summary: Under the general direction of the Director of Student Services and as a member of the problem-solving team, the school psychologist screens and identifies students for early intervention and administers diagnostic and curriculum–based assessments. Provides crisis intervention as well as individual and group intervention services to support mental health issues for students, school personnel, family, and community.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide screening for early intervention and identification.
  • Administer diagnostic and curriculum-based assessments.
  • Provide crisis, individual and group interventions as appropriate.
  • Conduct professional development/training and workshops for teachers, administrators, and other school personnel.
  • Provide consultative services related to school and problem-solving in the areas of instruction and social/emotional learning and behavior.
  • Assist with the coordination of community referrals, language, and culture, etc.
  • Utilize data-based decision making to drive instruction
  • Consultation and collaboration with all relevant stakeholders
  • Provide interventions and instructional support to develop academic skills
  • Provide mental health services to develop social and life skills
  • Support/develop school wide practices to promote learning
  • Support schools in the provision of multi-tiered prevention and evidence-based strategies for effective crisis response
  • Engage in legal and ethical professional practices
  • Other duties as assigned


Professional Responsibilities:

? Promotes school-wide practices to support learning and positive school climate

? Engages in MTSS efforts using researched-based interventions

? Implementing school-wide positive behavioral support systems

? Suggesting academic/learning interventions and differentiated instructional supports

? Provides mental and behavioral health interventions for students with disabilities and their non-disabled peers.

? Conducts on-going academic/behavioral data collection and analyzing progress monitoring data

? Identifies at-risk students and school vulnerabilities

? Provides crisis response, recovery, and prevention services

? Assists in the development and implementation of Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)

? Provides in-service training to school staff members

? Consults and collaborates with parents, school staff, and community service providers

? Conducts comprehensive evaluations with individual students to determine their unique strengths and weaknesses (behavioral, cognitive, emotional, academic, adaptive, personality)

? Assists in the development of IEP and 504 Plans for diverse learners

? Screens the learning environments of students

? Maintains family contact as needed to enhance home-school collaboration

Qualifications:

A Master's degree in School Psychology from an accredited college or university (Required)

Type 73 State of Illinois School Service Personnel Certificate with an Endorsement School Psychology is required at the time of application.
