Curriculum Writers: K-12 Arts

Standard Curriculum Writing: (pending Board Approval)
Under the direction of the Senior Program Officer for Arts Education (SPOAE), curriculum writers will work with Arts Education Department and the Arts Education Collaborative (AEC) to design and develop K-12 Arts Curricula for Dance, Media Arts, Music, Theatre, and Visual Arts to align seamlessly with the recently adopted National Core Arts Standards

Salary:
Will be based on the number of hours worked at workshop rate of $23.32/ hour (beyond contracted time), with set expectations.

This project spans over the equivalency of ten days consisting of full-day work sessions, Saturday work sessions, virtual sessions, and independent work sessions towards a completion date in Spring 2020.

Endorsements: English 7-12, Middle Level English 6-9

Qualifications:
Relevant Experience and Skills
- Rich content knowledge in Dance, Media Arts, Music, Theatre, or Visual Arts education
- Superior writing ability and demonstrated editing skills
- Curriculum writing experience desired
- Experience as a PPS classroom teacher using effective instructional and assessment practices
- Understanding of pedagogical concepts: Culturally Responsiveness, Inquiry-Based Learning/Teaching, Learner-Centered, etc.

Residency Requirements: No Residency Requirement

Essential Job Functions:
K-12 arts curriculum writers will work primarily in teams to create sequential curriculum based on enduring understandings with guidance from AEC. The curriculum will include the following for each anchor standard in every grade level/course:
- Standards
- Essential Questions
- Objectives
- Knowledge
- Skills
- Vocabulary
- Materials & Resources
Additionally, curriculum writers will develop at least one sample assessment task, example of instruction, and essential question per grade level/course.

Curriculum writing will occur from Fall 2019 through Spring 2020. Writers will have to adhere to a strict task-and deadline-driven work flow set forth by the Senior Program Officer for Arts Education.
