The Hourly Non Instructional Paraprofessional assist in all areas of the building to enforce school policy. Provides support to teachers and building administration in ensuring a safe and orderly learning environment. Maintains strict confidentiality with respect to information concerning students, personnel, and other administrative matters affecting the district.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Provide assistance to areas within the school building including but not limited to the office, hallways, and restrooms.

  • Provide presence and coverage in the cafeteria by assisting and monitoring students during lunch period; assist with cleaning the eating areas, such as wiping down tables, at the end of lunch period; instructional computer assistance; clinical aide assistance and personal care services
  • Provide supervision when students are outside at recess and inside during indoor recess by organizing activities and providing assistance when playing games; maintaining discipline and monitor student behavior

  • Assist with supervising students before the school day begins and at dismissal to ensure transportation at the end of the day

  • Provide coverage to the detention area and hallways as needed during fire drills or other emergency evacuation of the school, the aide assists in ensuring a safe and orderly exiting of the building

  • The hourly para can assist in the classroom at the direction of the teacher or administrator, when requested
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal and Assistant Principal


Requirements: EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED Required; Georgia PSC Paraprofessional certification required; Para Assessment test or College coursework at a minimum of 60 semester hours, 90 quarter hours or 1, 000 clock hours or Associates or higher Degree.

EXPERIENCE: 2 years of experience preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: Strong interpersonal skills; has the ability to de-escalate possible conflicts; Proficient Microsoft Office; Has the ability to make good decisions in difficult situations

Compensation: Hourly Rate: 13.50 hour
May work up to 29 hours a week

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
