  • JOB TITLE: Family Liaison Coordinator
    LOCATION: Early Education Center
    WORK YEAR: 197 Days
    SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Work hours may be determined by manager and employee.
    WORK STATUS: Classified, Hourly Non-Exempt
    REPORTS TO: Director of Early Childhood Education

    POSITION SUMMARY:
    Responsible for the assessment of family needs and the provision of a planned program of activities and services to meet those needs within the framework of the Early Childhood and Head Start programs. Develops and promotes good community relations among various community and school clientele.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Assesses family needs, provides resources, and education for families.
    2. Lead families in opportunities to teach self-advocacy skills, leadership opportunities within the school and community.
    3. Plans and provides educational activities for families in the program.
    4. Works closely with other staff and agencies who serve the social, educational and health needs of families.
    5. Implements and maintains a program for the utilization of volunteers.
    6. Plans, develops and implements action plans and program goals.
    7. Maintains a regular program of outreach and recruitment in the community.
    8. Recruits and provides resources for families within the program who have infants and toddlers.
    9. Perform oral and written translations.
    10. Familiarity with or ability to learn computer equipment and programs which may include (but not limited to) word processing.
    11. Maintains family records, family involvement information, and statistical information for state and federal regulations using system data entry and retrieval equipment, with software programs.
    12. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

    Required
    • High School diploma or G.E.D.
    • Experience working with families from diverse backgrounds
    • Ability to speak, read, and write both Spanish and English as demonstrated on the BEST test.
    • Ability to work with students and families with diverse backgrounds and abilities.


    Preferred
    • Some training or experience in early childhood education and development and social services
    • Translation/Interpretation Certificate
    • Excellent organizational, presentation, time management, facilitation, mediation, and decision making skills.
    • Computer skills preferred

    ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions required the following physical demands: some lifting up to 50 pounds, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling: and signification fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires sitting, walking, and standing. This job is performed in generally a clean and healthy environment.

    CERTIFICATION OR LICENSE:
    • Credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling, or a related field within eighteen months of hire
    • Valid Colorado Driver's License

    CLEARANCES
    Must clear background check through Colorado Department of Human Services in addition to an online Records check and FBI Fingerprint check through Colorado Bureau of Investigation. Must also submit receipt of a Physical completed within one year of date of hire.

    SALARY PLACEMENT
    Placement on Class 3 of the Specialist Salary Schedule is between $17.80 - $19.78 and is based upon previous experience in related field. Highest initial step placement on the salary schedule is step 5. Current Board approved Salary Schedules are available for review on our district website at www.ssd2.org.

    Please note: The computed annual salary will be spread out in equal payments over 12 months. Sheridan School District employees are paid once a month on the 1st working day of the month that is not a weekend day or holiday.

    BENEFITS:
    Employees who are scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week are eligible to obtain district health benefits which include medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance and supplemental benefits. Positions that qualify for health benefits also qualify for leave which could include vacation and daily leave to be determined by the position and number of days assigned. Sheridan School District No. 2 is a public employer and participates in the Colorado Public Employees' Retirement Association (PERA). All employees are required by state statute to contribute 8.75% of salary on a pre-tax basis to PERA. The District contributes 20.4%.
