A full-time Bilingual Liaison/Senior Secretary is needed for the 2019-20 school year (Grades 3-5).
Purpose:
To provide Spanish bilingual support to building administration, staff members, and school community, and act as a liaison to parents, staff, central office to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of the school.
Location:
Located in the building office of the assigned school.
Responsibilities:
Term of Employment:
Full-time (1.0 FTE), school year position, starting October 2019.
Physical Demands/Requirements:
This position requires the ability to lift and carry up to 15 pound items and to push or pull heavier items. It also requires good vision, hearing, and speech for safe and effective communication. Also requires ability to provide own transportation and may include some overtime.

Responsibilities:
- Communicate with Hispanic parents on a daily basis via phone calls, emails and face to face interactions.Provide translating of district and school documents designed to inform parents such as letters, bulletins, announcements, calendars, notices, webpage information, articles, flyers, newsletters, community resources communication, etc.Translate parent visits to the office when a Spanish-speaking parent needs support speaking with office staff, the liaison will be asked to translate.Increase parent and family involvement in schools and establish effective communication between home and school with Hispanic families.Assist building administrator, staff, students, parents, and school community by coordinating the accurate and efficient dissemination of all information necessary to the orderly operation of the schoolMaintain high standards of public relations at all times with students, staff, parents, and school communityMaintain confidentiality regarding all school, student and staff issuesAssist in the operation of the school office may include: opening and closing, proper maintenance of all office equipment, answering and responding to telephone and written communications, preparing correspondence and other materials, and the distribution of mailAssist in coordinating student needs including registration, transfers and field trips, etc.Assist in the maintaining and updating records including:
- Student information database (PowerSchool)Staff information and staff attendanceStudent cumulative files
- Fluent in SpanishPrevious Spanish translation experience preferredHigh school diploma or equivalent2 to 3 years secretarial or related experience preferredExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work with a minimum of supervision
